Run by Australians for Australians, we understand the need private clients and middle market companies have for direct and practical advice. We provide expatriate individuals and international companies in the UK and Australia with integrated tax and structuring advice for both their home market and the international markets in which they operate.
Cross-border taxation is a complex area of law. Many people don’t know that just moving money creates potential tax
exposures. As an example, did you know that bringing capital into the UK following your move could see you taxed?
It is critical that proper tax advice is received prior to relocating to or from the UK/Australia.
HMRC can impose significant penalties for late filing of tax returns and for a failure to notify HMRC if you have a liability to UK tax, you must notify HMRC within six months of the end of the tax year (by 5 October) so that a return can be issued to you. Penalties can be imposed for failure to notify.
The UK tax system for expats moving to the UK is complex. In addition to tax compliance obligations that must be met, further tax advice is necessary to comply with tax, social security and filing obligations and to take full advantage of tax reliefs available for expats.
Did you know that – as a result of controversial changes in the law - you
could lose over HALF your
hard-earned UK pension money to
tax, if not structured correctly when
it's transferred to Australia?
CST can help you avoid the 55% tax.
The non-domicile and residency rules are complex. It is important that proper planning is done prior to moving, including keeping separate bank accounts for foreign income and capital.
If you are moving to the UK and want to access overseas capital, CST can help ensure that these funds are not subject to UK tax.
If a company fails to comply, it will commit an offence and every company officer could face fines.
